Let’s Declutter…
Living Room
Let’s start with the living room!
Is your living room feeling a bit overwhelmed with clutter? It’s time to reclaim your space and create a more peaceful environment for relaxation and enjoyment. Here are a few simple steps to help you declutter and transform your living room:
1. Start with Surface Clutter: Begin by clearing off coffee tables, side tables, and any other surfaces that have accumulated clutter. Remove old magazines, newspapers, used candle jars, dead plants and random items that seem to find a place to nest in the living room. Creating clean, open surfaces will instantly make your living room feel more spacious and inviting.
2. Streamline Decor: Take a critical look at your decorative items and accessories. Are there any pieces that feel outdated, overcrowded or you simply don’t love? Consider removing or reorganising these items to create a more cohesive and visually pleasing space. Less can truly be more.
3. Simplify Furniture Arrangement: Evaluate the furniture arrangement in your living room and consider whether it maximizes both functionality and flow. Are there pieces of furniture that feel too bulky or obstructive? Do you really need each item in the room? Removing unnecessary furniture or rearranging the layout can open up the room and create a more harmonious space for relaxing and entertaining.
By decluttering your living room and removing unnecessary items, you’ll not only create a more visually appealing space but also cultivate a sense of calm. Imagine the feeling of walking into your clear living room each afternoon—a place where you can unwind, recharge and connect with loved ones.
Kitchen
Is your kitchen feeling crowded and chaotic? It’s time to simplify and streamline your culinary space for a more enjoyable cooking and dining experience. Here are a few tips to help you declutter and transform your kitchen:
1. Clear Countertops: Start by decluttering your countertops and removing any items that don’t belong. Hairbands in the kitchen? Remove. Letters on the countertop? Remove. Bunches of keys in the corner. Remove.
Store small appliances that you rarely use in cabinets or drawers to free up valuable counter space. Keeping your countertops clear will not only make meal prep easier but also create a more open and inviting atmosphere in your kitchen.
2. Purge Unused Cookware and Gadgets: Take a critical look at your collection of pots, pans and kitchen gadgets. Are there items that you never use or duplicates that you could do without? Consider donating or discarding these items to streamline your kitchen and make room for the essentials.
Simplifying your cookware collection will make it easier to find what you need and keep your kitchen organised. Be ruthless!
3. Organise Cabinets and Pantry: Take some time to declutter and organise your cabinets and pantry. Remove expired or unused food items and reorganise shelves and storage containers to maximise space. Investing in storage solutions like jars, baskets and shelf dividers can help keep your kitchen tidy and functional.
By decluttering your kitchen and removing unnecessary items, you’ll create a more functional and efficient space that makes cooking and meal prep a breeze.
Bathroom
Is your bathroom feeling cluttered and cramped? It’s time to simplify.
Here are a few tips to help you declutter and transform your bathroom:
1. Clear Countertops: Start by decluttering your bathroom countertops and removing any items that don’t belong. Store toiletries, cosmetics and other everyday essentials in cabinets or drawers to create empty surface. Add an under-sink storage unit if need be or move items to a dressing table in the bedroom – not everything needs to be in the bathroom.
Keeping your countertops clear of clutter will not only make your bathroom feel more spacious but also make it easier to clean and maintain.
2. Dispose Of Expired Products: Take a critical look at your collection of skincare, haircare and bath products. Are there items that are past their expiration date or that you never use? Dried out mascaras, half used bottles of product, medicines from three years ago? Throw them out! Free up space and simplify your routine.
3. Organise Cabinets and Drawers: Take some time to organise your bathroom cabinets and drawers. Drawer dividers are a bathroom lifesaver for organising your drawers and maximising space.
Investing in storage solutions like drawer dividers and shelf organisers, baskets and bins all help to keep your bathroom tidy and functional.
By decluttering your bathroom and removing unnecessary items, you’ll create a more refreshing and rejuvenating space that promotes relaxation and self-care.
Imagine the feeling of walking into your freshly decluttered bathroom—a clean and organised sanctuary where you can unwind, pamper yourself and escape from the stresses of the day.
Home Office
Is your home office feeling cluttered and chaotic? It’s time to streamline and simplify your workspace for a more focused and efficient work environment. Here are a few tips to help you declutter and transform your home office:
1. Clear Your Desktop: Start by decluttering your desk and removing any items that don’t serve a functional purpose. Store paperwork, office supplies, and other miscellaneous items in drawers or on shelves to create a clean and organised work surface. Keeping your desktop clear of clutter will not only improve your focus but also make it easier to tackle tasks with clarity and efficiency.
2. Purge Unnecessary Files: Take a critical look at your filing system you’re your physical papers and your online digital system. Identify any documents or files that are outdated or no longer needed. File them in an efficient system or send to the recycling bin. This can be a time consuming, and sometimes overwhelming task but when it’s done, I promise you will feel cleansed and in control again!
3. Organise Tech Accessories: Take some time to declutter and organise your tech accessories, including cables, chargers, and electronic devices. Remove any outdated or unused gadgets and invest in cable organisers or storage solutions to keep cords and accessories neatly stored and out of sight. That cable from your old nokia that you are keeping ‘just in case’ – bin it!

Imagine the feeling of walking into your freshly decluttered home office each morning—a clutter-free zone where you can tackle tasks with ease and clarity.
Bedroom
Is your bedroom a calm place? You can benefit from a more restful and rejuvenating sleep environment. Here’s how:
1. Clear Nightstands: Start by decluttering your nightstands and removing any items that don’t belong. Store books, electronics, and other bedside clutter in drawers, out of sight, to create a clean and peaceful surface for relaxation. Keeping your nightstands clear of clutter will not only promote better sleep but also create a more serene atmosphere in your bedroom.
You may like to add a hand cream, pillow mist or a room spray to encourage you to use in the evenings just before bed. Slipping off into a lavender infused sleep state is a game changer.
2. Cleanse Your Wardrobe: Take a critical look at your wardrobe and identify clothing items that you no longer wear or love. Consider donating, discarding or even selling these items to free up space and maybe even make a little extra cash. If you haven’t worn an item in the last year, ask yourself if you are ever likely to wear it again. Most of us wear less than 25% of items in our wardrobe each year – I know I’m guilty of this. Streamlining your clothing collection will make it easier to get dressed in the morning and simplify early morning decision making.
3. Organise Under the Bed: Take advantage of the space under your bed to store off-season clothing, extra bedding, or other items that you don’t use frequently. Invest in under-bed storage containers and vacuum packing bags to keep these items organised and out of sight. By decluttering under the bed, you’ll create more floor space and a cleaner visual aesthetic in your bedroom.
By decluttering your bedroom and removing unnecessary items, you’ll create a space that promotes restful sleep and relaxation. Imagine the feeling of walking into your new bedroom—a calming oasis where you can unwind, recharge, and escape from the stresses of the day.
